ISLAMABAD – Minister for States and Frontier Regions Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch has said that there were indications that Gen Raheel saved General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Talking to a local television, Qadir expressed his views regarding the outgoing army chief and termed him a thorough professional. He said before the sit-ins, Gen Raheel told him that he belongs to a good family and was a professional. He claimed Gen Raheel told him that he will not stab anybody in the back.
Qadir opined about the civil-military relationship and said it was hard to say the both institutions were on same page.He said Gen Bajwa has to move ahead of Gen Raheel for the nation to accept his command.
He said Gen Raheel remained active in his tenure and joined hands with the civilian government to solve the problems of country.
The minister spilled the beans regarding the 2014 sit-ins of PTI and PAT adding that Gen Raheel was not on the back of the sit-ins and he did not have any information about the role of the ISI in those protests.
‘Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched in Fata and Balochistan and there was no difference between the civilian and military leaderships on the issue of countering terrorism’ he said.
‘There was a difference between both the leaderships on the issue of dealing with seminaries imparting Jihadi training, religious elements and Karachi’ he added.
