ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to release census data to initiate delimitation process.
The demand was made in a letter written by Secretary Election Commission to the Secretary of Law and Justice.
The letter stated that according to the Constitution, seats of national and provincial assemblies are allocated in accordance with their population.
It said that delimitation of the constituencies for re-allocation of seats is only possible after official publication of census report.
The letter said that provisional results of the national census released last week showed tangible demographic changes in the country.
