ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has formally invited Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad for a state visit as well as a chief guest on Pakistan Day event.
According to Pakistani High Commission, Nafees Zakaria met Mahathir Mohamad and gave an invitation for the state visit.
Zakaria said that the prime minister Imran Khan was satisfied with the outcome of his recent Malaysia visit, adding that sending a skilled workforce should be observed and investors should come to Pakistan.
Prime Minister Imran Khan went to Malaysia for a two-day visit on November 20th and invited Dr Mahathir to visit Pakistan as chief guest on March 23.
During the visit, both the leaders held fruitful and in-depth discussions, which took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere in Putrajaya, with the discussions covering a wide range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Malaysian authorities rolled out the red carpet for the Pakistani premier as he arrived in the Malaysian capital with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood.
Pakistan and Malaysia also signed an agreement on the partial abolition of visa for travel between the two countries amid Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit; the agreement partially abolished the visa requirement for diplomatic and official passport holders, according to Malaysian media.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Malaysian counterpart also agreed to continue talks in the future to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in various fields.
“You are a statesman who transformed his country and we have followed your country’s progress since when you came into office.We want to learn from your experience, how you transformed your economy and developed it,” Imran Khan said.
“We both attained the people’s mandate on an anti-corruption platform,” said PM Khan, adding, “We have a lot to share.”
