Pakistan comes to standstill during Kashmir Solidarity Hour

ISLAMABAD – The Kashmir Solidarity Hour was observed today to express support to people of occupied Kashmir reeling under India coercion and to draw world attention to emerging humanitarian catastrophe there.

According to details, the Kashmir Solidarity Hour was commenced from 12:00 to 12:30 hours, in which sirens will sound all across the country and national anthem of Pakistan followed by national anthem of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be played.

During national anthems, all the people and vehicles were come to a standstill.

The Prime Minister and Chief Ministers along with all the parliamentarians lead the nation by coming in front of their respective Secretariats and office buildings whereas the people remained out of their offices, houses, markets and malls, and gather in the nearby streets all over the country.

After Jumma prayers, special prayers for the people of Kashmir were offered.

Rallies and protest demonstrations held across the country to express solidarity with Kashmiri people who are struggling for their right to self-determination.

The speakers highlighted atrocities being perpetrated on innocent Kashmiris by Indian forces.

PM Imran, who had earlier asked the entire nation to come out on Friday, applauded his people after his call to send a message to India over its alleged abuse of Kashmiris was answered with mass rallies across Pakistan.

“I am so proud of our people in the way they came out today in solidarity with the Kashmiris letting them know our nation stands resolutely with them,” Khan tweeted.

He again accused the ruling Hindu party of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a “Nazi-style takeover” and an ethnic cleansing in the Himalayan region.

Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir has been living under a curfew for weeks after it was stripped of its special status and downgraded to a territory. Pakistan, which lays claims to entire Kashmir, has pledged to protect the region’s population.
