Clashes between military and armed separatists kill at least 15 people in Cameroon

YAOUNDE – In Cameroon, at least fifteen people have been killed and several others injured during the clash between the military and armed separatists in Bole-Bakundu area, Radio Pakistan reported.

The official sources said that most of the armed separatist fighters escaped into the market with the military chasing and it is in the course of the exchange of fire that the civilians were killed.

There were conflicting reports of who committed the act. Locals claimed that they were shot by government forces but the government claimed they were killed in a clash between the military and armed separatists.

The army is yet to comment on the incident.

However, most of the separatist fighters succeeded to escape into the bushes as the local population rushed to rescue those who had been injured as the locality mourned the others killed.

Locals fear the casualty might rise given that access to medical facilities is difficult as a result of the lockdown imposed by the separatists.
