India’s MiG-27 fighter jet crashes near Pakistan border

JAIPUR – A MiG-27 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan on Tuesday, according to reports in local media.

The fighter jet, which got airborne for a training mission from Jaisalmer, crashed at around 6.10 pm (Indian Standard Time) near the Pokhran Range.

Pilot of the crashed jet is reportedly safe. The Hindu reported that the Indian Air Force (IAF) will set up a court of inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident.

This is the second big crash of a fighter jet of IAF within a fortnight. Earlier this month, an upgraded Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed in Bengaluru killing two pilots.
