PM Imran Khan announces national award for martyred hero Naeem Rashid

Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that Mian Naeem Rashid, New Zealand mosque massacre hero, will be honored with a national award for his bravery.

“We stand ready to extend all our support to the families of Pakistani victims of the terrorist attack in Christchurch. Pakistan is proud of Mian Naeem Rashid who was martyred trying to tackle the White Supremacist terrorist & his courage will be recognized with a national award,” the premier took to Twitter on Sunday to make the announcement.

 

At least 49 people were killed and others injured in the attack. New Zealand Prime Minister ‘Jacinda Ardern’ termed the incident as “one of the darkest days in New Zealand.”

Naeem Rashid and his son Talha Naeem tried to tackle the shooter, but they were shot dead in their attempt. Naeem and Talha, hailing from Abbottabad, were injured as they attempted to vanquish the attacker and later succumbed to their injuries.

Though Rashid failed to disarm the gunman, his courageous act gave others precious time to escape. He died a hero. His pictures are going viral on social media, with many praising his efforts.
