ISLAMABAD – The incumbent Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa took his first suo motu notice regarding the letter written by Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir before his alleged suicide.
The top judge has summoned the record of references against Munir from Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.
Munir, a former member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and former intelligence operative, committed suicide last Friday and left a note addressed to the chief justice of Pakistan.
In his suicide note, the analyst gave details of the allegations levelled against him and the way he was treated by “incompetent NAB officers”.

He wrote that he was committing suicide to avoid humiliation and requested that the CJP take notice of the conduct of NAB officials.
In the note, widely shared on social media, Munir wrote that he was giving his life in the hope that the top judge of the country would bring positive changes in the system where incompetent people are playing with the life and honor of citizen in the name of accountability.

Although the suicide note was first disputed by political analysts, his brother later confirmed its authenticity, indirectly validating that Asad Munir took his own life.
The chief justice had not taken any suo moto notice ever since assuming office after the retirement of Mian Saqib Nisar on January 17th, however, the demands for such intervention rose to a crescendo after the death of Asad Munir.
NAB had accused Munir of misusing his authority and restoring a plot in F-11 area in Islamabad.
