LAHORE – The initial investigations have suggested thrilling details of the Data Darbar suicide bomber who targeted police van outside the shrine, killing 11 people, including five police personnel.
In its report, the Punjab forensic agency has revealed that the suicide bomber was wearing Indian made shoes.
Although the suicide bomber has not been identified yet; but according to preliminary investigations, the attacker appeared to be belonging to tribal areas of Pakistan or could possibly be an Afghan national.
Intelligence sources said that the terrorist had the support of a big outfit.
The bomber’s conduct and behaviour prior to the attack suggested that he was administered with a toxic injection to avoid hesitation while attack, sometime before he blew himself up.
Initial investigations suggest that the bomber, aged between 14 to 16 years, came to Punjab via Balochistan of Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.
He had appeared at the site outside the Data Darbar from an adjacent street. The suicide bomber used locally made explosive material as he had ball bearings in his jacket.
The suicide bomber has been identified with the help of safe city cameras. The footage of the suicide bomber has been provided to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other investigation agencies.
