CAIRO (Web Desk) – Former Egyptian President has filed a plea against a death sentence and prison term, said media reports on Saturday.
The appeal has been filed by a defense counsel of Morsi.
“We submitted an appeal to the Court of Cessation to all prisoners sentenced, including Morsi,” his lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsud told reporters.
Morsi, who was ousted by the army in 2013, was sentenced to death in June for allegedly participating in a prison breaks and violence against police during 2011’s Arab spring.
Hundreds of his supporters have also been sentenced to death in a crackdown following Morsi’s overthrow.
Seven so far have been executed, including six defendants sentenced to death by a military court for allegedly participating in attacks against state.
