KARACHI – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Saturday confirmed the sighting of Muharram-ul-Haram moon in the Sindh capital.
Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman presided over the meeting.
The Youm-e-Ashur will be observed on the 10th of September, the committee further announced.
Meanwhile, law enforcement departments and district administrations have finalized security arrangements to maintain law and order situation during the holy month.
Huge number of police and levies forces will be deployed to ensure foolproof security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during Muharram.
Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. This is the often called the month of remembrance and is the holiest month after Ramazan. The 10th day of Muharram is known as the Day of Ashura; this day commemorates the death of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Hussain ibn Ali and his family and companions at the Battle of Karbala.
