Turkey downs unidentified drone near Syrian border

ANKARA (Web Desk) – Turkish Air Force on Friday shot down an unidentified drone plane near Syrian border for violating the country’s airspace.

According to a statement the unmanned aircraft was shot down after it did not respond to three warnings around 3km from the Turkish air force.

Meanwhile the Russian Defense Ministry official spokesman Major General Igor Koneshenkov has said that all Russian military planes have safely returned to base in Syria after combat missions, the Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding all drones are operating as planned.

Earlier in last week media reports claimed that a Russian jet was shot down by Turkish Air Force for violating airspace.

According to media reports the eyewitnesses saw a large explosion in Huraytan, northern Syria, while three fighter jets were hovering above.

The reports further added that three Turkish planes were actually responding to “mysterious” lock-ons from Mig-29 jets, which are used by Russian forces.
