MELBOURNE (Web Desk) – Australia’s star pace Mitchell Johnson, who recently announced retirement from international cricket, has revealed that South African skipper AB de Villiers was the toughest opposition batsman of his cricketing career.
In an interview with cricket.com.au, he said there have been many best batsmen who were not easy to be bowled, but de Villiers was the standout.
He recalled an encounter with South African batsman from a match in 2014, when Mitchell was bowling great and picked couple of wickets in the early and then de Villiers came out and changed the whole situation.
“It is really difficult to deal with a situation when someone comes out and challenges you at the top of your game, but he has been one of the best cricketers I bowled to in my career,” he has been quoted saying.
