Russian airstrikes killed hundreds of civilians in Syria: Amnesty International Report

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Russian air force has been targeting civilian populations and destroying residential houses in Syria since it began airstrikes campaign in the war torn middle east country, alleged a report of Amnesty International on Wednesday.

According to the report only a dozen Syrian militant rebels were killed in six Russian strikes from September to November while more than 200 civilians have died in the attacks.

These six attacks were carried out in Syrian cities of Homs, Idlib and Aleppo.

“Since September 30 Russia has claimed that its armed forces are only striking “terrorist” targets and has not publicly acknowledged that they have caused any civilian deaths and injuries. However, Russian attacks in Syria appear to have actually killed hundreds of civilians and destroyed or damaged hospitals and dozens of homes and other civilian objects.”

The human rights watch organisation said that Russia was targeted Syrian opposition groups instead of Islamic State (ISIS) or other militant groups.
