ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – As many as 57 Indian fishermen were released by Pakistani officials on Saturday as a good will gesture following the visit of Indian foreign secretary earlier this month.
The fishermen were arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and detained nearly one year ago. “As a goodwill gesture, the government of Pakistan decided to release 57 Indian fishing boats,” a statement by foreign office said.
The detained boats of the fishermen will also be handed over to Indian authorities after repairing, the statement added.
