6.7 magnitude quake hits Ecuador

QUITO (News Desk) – A 6.7 magnitude strong earthquake has hit Ecuador, the US Geological Survey said (USGS)  on Wednesday.

According to details, the epicentre of the quake was found to be 34km away from the town of Rosa Zarate and 36km from the town of Muisne, at a depth of 10km.

There are no reports of any loss to lives or properties, in the wake of tremors. An official statement said that a survey was underway to ascertain the possible damages.

The country was badly hit by a series of devastating quakes that killed dozens of people, some one month ago. More than 400 people were killed and over 2,500 injured in a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck off the Ecuadorian coast in April.
