ABU DHABI – Tensions across Middle East continue to intensify, as United States and Israel are carrying out military operations against Iran, deepening an already volatile conflict. With unabated war tensions, energy infrastructure is now directly affected and threats of wider retaliation looming, the latest incidents signal a dangerous new phase in the rapidly escalating regional conflict.
Operations at Abu Dhabi’s largest natural gas processing complex have been abruptly stopped after a fire erupted at the site, marking the second disruption to critical facility since outbreak of the ongoing Middle East war.
Authorities said the Habshan gas processing facility was forced to suspend operations as debris from the interception of an incoming attack hit area, raising fresh concerns about the widening impact of the regional conflict. The incident was confirmed by the Abu Dhabi Media Office in a statement posted on X.
The Habshan complex, operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), is UAE’s primary hub for collecting natural gas from fields across the emirate. The facility processes gas and distributes it for domestic use, making it a cornerstone of the country’s energy infrastructure.
Officials also reported second incident in the Ajban area, where authorities responded to falling debris following another successful interception of an incoming threat. Emergency teams were deployed to assess the situation, while Abu Dhabi Media Office said further updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned what it described as an Iranian terrorist attack targeting both the Habshan gas facility and the Bab oil field. The ministry denounced the strike as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability and critical energy infrastructure.
The developments come as tensions across the Middle East continue to intensify. The United States and Israel are currently carrying out military operations against Iran, deepening an already volatile conflict.
Iran’s military spokesperson issued stark warning, saying any attack on the country’s key infrastructure including bridges, power plants, or energy facilities would trigger sweeping retaliation. According to Iran’s state-run Press TV, the spokesperson said Tehran would strike “all” US and Israeli assets across the region with attacks that would be “harder and more devastating than before.”
