ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Higher Education Commission (HEC) hosted a high achiever’s ceremony honoring researchers and writers on Thursday, the fifth such event in its history.
The event, hosted at the Islamabad Secretariat of the HEC, awarded educationists in four different categories i.e Best Research Paper, Best Young Research Scholar, Best Innovator, and Best Book.
Addressing the audience on the occasion, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain said, “We have to support and encourage young researchers if we seek to progress and excel as a nation”.
HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed briefed the minister on HEC initiatives to ensure the high quality of education and research. He said the number of research journals had increased considerably, from 800 in 2002, to over 10,000 in 2014-15, as the education commission had provided researchers with a conducive environment.
Eight disciplines including Basic and Applied Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pure Engineering, Computer Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, and Arts and Humanities were considered while handing out the awards.
