KARACHI (Web Desk) – Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah appeared to forget the name of legend Qawwal Amjad Sabri, when unintentionally said ‘Junaid’ as fumbled to recall the assassinated Qawwal.
According to media details, CM Shah on Sindh Assembly floor said “A very successful and respected Qawwal ‘Junaid’ was a very honest human being,” before travelling on to announce a Rs10 million grant for the kin of the deceased and a government job for his widow.
CM was interrupted by opposition, to which he reacted in a rather inspiring manner.
“I did not make a mistake with your name,” he shouted, facing opposition benches before continuing with his address.
Television channels speculated that the aged minister may have mixed Sabri’s name up with singer turned televangelist Junaid Jamshed.
The minister was quick to check his mistake, and swiftly condemned the assassination of Amjad Sabri, who was killed in a targeted attack on Wednesday.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter users were quick to catch his faux pas, with one sarcastically saying his confusion is an accurate reflection of the province’s state of education.
