Authorities are now completing procedures related to the incident, the ministry said in a statement posted on social media. The cause of the fire was not revealed and but the incident resulted in damage or operational disruption.
The development comes at sensitive moment for the refinery. With a processing capacity of 4Lac barrels of crude oil per day, Jazan facility produces major refined petroleum products, including gasoline and ultra-light sulfur diesel.
Aramco already shut down refinery on July 27 after an attack attributed to Houthi movement damaged parts of the complex.
Houthis said they targeted Aramco facilities in Jazan and Yanbu, raising fresh concerns over the vulnerability of Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructure as regional tensions continue to intensify.
The latest fire adds another layer of uncertainty around the refinery at a time when attacks on energy installations and shipping routes are threatening to deepen disruptions across the region. Security concerns around the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz have already heightened fears of wider consequences for global oil and fuel supplies.
The attacks unfolded against backdrop of escalating US-Israeli war on Iran, alongside Iranian attacks on shipping around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy trade.
