The murder of Islamabad resident Hina Javed sparked massive outrage as investigators are looking into the case of how she died.
Hina was found dead inside the bathroom of her home in Rawalpindi’s Lal Kurti area. Now, her post-mortem report has added new questions to an already disturbing case.
The report says Hina suffered a fracture to her neck bone, while injuries were also found on her ribs and hip. The membrane surrounding her heart was reportedly filled with blood. Her autopsy was conducted nearly 12 hours after her death.
Despite these findings, doctors have not yet been able to establish the exact cause of death. Samples collected from her body, including DNA and other forensic material, have been sent to a laboratory. The results are expected to help investigators piece together what happened in the final moments of her life.
Police initially informed doctors that Hina was allegedly hanged by her husband. However, the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
Hina married Faisal Asghar, son of retired government official Asghar Ali, in November 2025. According to Hina’s father-in-law, disagreements between the couple reportedly began soon after their marriage. Police have now prevented him from leaving the city until the investigation is completed.
Faisal, who has taught at several universities, is the main suspect in the case. Investigators are also questioning domestic worker Zeeshan. Both suspects are currently on a three-day physical remand. What makes the case particularly striking is that Faisal reportedly discussed cases of husbands killing their wives during lectures at universities where he taught. Investigators are now examining all aspects of the case to establish what happened inside the house.
Hina’s brother told police that he received a call from her father-in-law informing him that there was an emergency at the house and asking him to come immediately. He reached the house with a relative and found his sister dead inside the bathroom.
The FIR filed on August 22 at Civil Lines Police Station contains disturbing allegations. It stated that Hina’s hands were tied behind her back, a piece of cloth had been placed in her mouth and a wire was found around her neck.
Police have so far collected 19 items from the scene, including Hina’s mobile phone, wire, rope and the alleged weapon. DNA samples from the suspects have also been collected. For Hina’s family, the forensic results could be crucial. They want investigators to determine not only how she died, but also what happened before her death and who was responsible.
The family appealed to Punjab Police and other authorities to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation, insisting that every aspect of the case be examined without pressure, influence or delay.
