After Sultan s success, Shoaib Akhtar wants Salman Khan to play his character in biopic

MUMBAI – Following the successful premiere of Salman Khan’s latest film “Sultan”, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, famous for bowling the fastest delivery of cricketing history, has said that he wants the Bollywood star to play the lead in a movie based on his own life, if such a project ever came to light.

In an interview with Indian media, the Rawalpindi Express went on to say that it was up to his fans and filmmakers to decide whether his life was worth a biopic or not.

“I know that is the trend these days, but I am no one to decide that. If people think that my life is interesting and inspiring, then they can make a movie out of it. If not, then let it be. It is for fans and filmmakers to decide,” he said while responding to a question.

However, he did specify who he would like to play himself if a biopic on his life came to life. “I’d like to see Salman Khan playing my role in the biopic if that happens,” he added.

In recent times, Bollywood has witnessed an increasing number of biopics on sports stars being produced, such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom, Azhar and Sultan.

Sultan, in which Salman Khan plays the lead role, is set to become one of the biggest hits of the year, earning over Indian Rs. 40 crore on it opening day and expected to cross 300 crore mark by the end of the week.
