Facebook goes on an all-out war against AdBlock, gets a nasty beating

LAHORE (Web Desk) – The longstanding tussle between social media giants Facebook and Adblock is going nowhere as the former announced an all out war against Adblock but were also given a scathing rejoinder in turn.

The hate-hate relationship started on Tuesday when Facebook changed its desktop website forcing visitors to view ads despite having an Adblocker.

Adblock Plus retaliated the same day and improvised its program to filter out Facebook’s sneaky ads.

Facebook, in a bid to give a befitting reply to Adblocker, brainstormed and managed once again to block Adblock Plus, forcing its adverts onto social media users. It issued a statement as well on Thursday.

“We’re disappointed that ad blocking companies are punishing people on Facebook, as these new attempts don’t just block ads but also posts from friends and Pages.”

But nevertheless, the genius behind Adblocker once again mulled to retaliate and successfully blocked the creepy Facebook ads on Friday.

Adblock Plus, meanwhile, has called Facebook’s policy of thwarting its tools as “anti-user” behavior, while Facebook has accused the blocking tool developers of trying to make money through its own blocker.

The coding duel is still underway and it’s likely that the cat-and-mouse fight would continue due to vested commercial interests.
