Pakistan vs England 5th ODI – Pakistan beat England by four wickets

CARDIFF (Staff Report) – Pakistan beat England by four wickets to claim victory in the last of five-match ODI series here on Sunday in Cardiff.

The hosts won the series with 4-1, including a huge victory which involved the highest target of ODI history.

Batting first, England scored 302 runs for nine wickets. Jason Roy top-scored with 87 and Ben Stokes made an ODI-best 75. Hasan Ali led the tourists’ attack with four for 60, his best figures at this level.

Pakistani bowlers Hasan Ali and Muhammad Amir picked four and three wickets respectively.

Chasing the target, Pakistan’s Sarfraz Ahmed smashed quick 90 runs off 73 balls only while Shoaib Malik also contributed 77 runs. Rizwan Ahmed scored 34 runs.

England’s Mark Wood and Liam Dawson got two wickets each.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first.

Pakistan made two changes; Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Shoaib Malik are in and Mohammad Irfan and Sami Aslam out for the last game.

England decided to rest Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett and bring in Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood instead. This will be the ODI debut for Liam Dawson.
