Have Brad Pitt and Angelina made us feel bitter about love?
The hashtag #Brangelina was mentioned 720 times per minute on Twitter (roughly) according to sources, the moment the tragic news hit social media: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-Pitt had split up after a union of over 11 years.
In 2014 they were married in a small, private ceremony in a chapel at Château Miraval in the village of Correns.
According to court documents, the split occurred on 15th September, 2015, two years and one month after they got married in August 2014.
“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well being of our kids,” Brad Pitt said Tuesday in a statement to CNN. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
Known for being one of the biggest Hollywood couples, Jolie and Pitt are also known for their charitable work: the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation was set up 10 years ago to assist in humanitarian crises around the world.
Jolie has represented the UN High Commission for Refugees as a goodwill ambassador between 2001 and 2012, becoming a special envoy in April 2012.
Also being an inspiration to women throughout the world in her fight against cancer, Jolie is further an icon for children around the world because of the interesting roles she chooses (Maleficent), and for lending a helping hand to children all around the world.
Brad on the other hand, started his ‘Make It Right’ Foundation shortly after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, donating millions to help rebuild New Orleans. He is currently focusing on opening a luxury resort in Croatia.
Jolie and Pitt are noticeable for the enormous charity work they do. Reportedly having sold their wedding pictures for a whopping $5 million, Brangelina contributed the payment to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
Being such an inspiration for people around the world, one is forced to think WHY such a tragedy occurred, and whether it was irreversible.
The Background Story:
Jolie has discussed struggling with self-destructive behavior in her younger years, and so has Pitt. They both overcame their dark periods, however. Jolie had 2 divorces before she met Pitt, while Pitt has divorced up his sleeve, since he met Jolie.
They discussed their goals in life and discovered that they both wanted similar achievements, sources stated.
Cheating Rumours:
The biggest speculation, perhaps, surrounds the news that Brad Pitt was caught being ‘unfaithful’ to Angelina on the sets of his new film ‘Allied’, with co-star Marion Cotillard.
According to Page Six, Angelina had hired a private investigator to spy on Brad while he was on set with his co-star.
Unhealthy Eating Patterns/Weight Loss:
Angelina had been very upset and insecure lately, sources revealed. It was also mentioned that Angelina had been having weight issues, because of her unhealthy eating patterns and surgeries that had taken place (removal of ovaries and mastectomy due to chances of ovarian cancer/breast cancer). A source further stated, “Angelina hasn’t been happy for a long time now.”
Bad Parenting:
Another source claimed that Angelina was filing for divorce because of Brad’s ‘parenting methods’, which is also the reason of her asking for the ‘physical custody’ of her six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and the twins Knox and Vivienne.
Another source had stated that Angelina had become ‘fed up’ with Brad’s alchohol and weed consumption, and she believed that he had an ‘anger problem’ that was not good for the kids.
Different Lifestyles:
Another of the bigger reasons is the statement that the pair had ‘different ideas about their future’. The source further went on to claim that they had gradually grown apart because of the realization that they value and prioritize different things, and those issues had gotten in the way of their marriage.
“Angelina is very dedicated to her work with the UN and working on other charitable endeavors while Brad is consumed with his film projects. Both of their interests have taken them across the world—not together but in different directions. They haven’t been able to compromise on much of anything lately,” the source stated.
A Falling Out:
Another report stated that Angelina hadn’t been happy for quite some time, and had been having health issues. According to E! News, their split had actually been a long-term falling out.
The last time Brad and Angelina had been spotted together was in Mid-July, where they were pictured celebrating their twins’ birthday at the ‘Griddle Café’.
According to reports, Jolie does not want spousal support, and is seeking only visitation rights for Pitt for her six children.
A tweet on Twitter stated: If a couple with millions of dollars, six kids and a brand of over-priced rose wine can’t make it, we should all just give up now. #Brangelina

A love-story that was too perfect to be true-Brad and Angelina went through a lot together, and claim to be soulmates.
A couple of quotes will take us back in time and make us think as to HOW it is possible for a strong couple like theirs to fall out of love:
Angelina on being friends with Brad: ‘I talk to Bradpitt, I don’t have a lot of friends I talk to. He is really the only person I talk to.’
About Jolie, Pitt once stated, ‘I have love in my life, a soul mate…absolutely.’ In another quote, he stated, ‘I wake up some mornings and gasp.’
Now, if that’s not love, then we don’t know what is.
Angelina on long-term love:
You get together and you’re two individuals and you get inspired by one another, you challenge and complement each other, drive each other beautifully crazy. After all these years, we have history-and when you have history with somebody, you’re friends in a very real, deep way. There’s a lot of comfort and ease that comes from having been through quite a lot together.’
The perfect couple had further waited for ‘gay marriage’ to become legal, Esquire Magazine mentioned in 2006.
Brad Pitt is quoted to have said, “Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able to.”
The perfection in this marriage is hard to match. Apparently the couple shared more than just their beds and their family: they shared their dreams, their aspirations, even their movies and humanitarian work. If such a falling-out occurs in perhaps one of the most inspiring couples, an era is shaken up by it; people who seek confidence in the love of their most-favourite on-screen couples and ofcourse, in love.
Pitt will next be seen in Allied, a thriller about the second world war, alongside Marion Cotillard while Jolie is working on Netflix documentary ‘First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers.’
A more personal view of the situation:
If one ever watches a Brad-Angelina movie, the chemistry they share is visible to the naked eye. Complementing each other’s weaknesses and strengths, they fit perfectly like two peas in a pod.
Another perfection lay in their professional lives: with the husband and wife both sharing the same profession, they were inseparable. Angelina wrote and directed a couple of movies in her lifetime, all of them doing outrageous business at the box office. ‘By The Sea’ was one of her favourites, showing the struggles of a married couple who went through everyday struggles in their lives.
Some people claimed that the story was Angelina’s herself, and that she narrated her own life through the tragic tale. Angelina brushed off all such rumours, stating that she wouldn’t be comfortable doing such a film had it been a depiction of her own life.
In their last interview together more than half a year back, Angelina and Brad complimented each other on the dedication and support they had shown each other throughout the decade, and how blessed they were for each other’s support.
A source also claimed that Angelina had been upset for a long time over the way Brad was going through his mid-life crisis, rumoured to have been partying and focusing more on his movies and travelling to far off places due to his shoots, while Angelina wanted more peace in her life and wanted to spend more time with the family, and was also travelling to places because of her humanitarian work.
Evolvement, perhaps, was the factor that made them fall apart. Individuals are bound to grow in their own ways and learn from their experiences, and every human being is different, so decisions cannot be blamed on human beings, rather circumstances.
The Pitt-Jolie split has shaken lovers, relationships, marriages and those who believed the Hollywood couple to be their idols: those who looked up to love and working on a marriage.
By reviewing their life and going through their timeline, it does not miss the eye as to why they were deemed as one of Hollywood’s most important couples, and an inspiration to millions.
We wish Angelina and Brad a good future, with or without each other.
