Arsenic amp; Old Lace: Play Highlights [LGS 15-C amp; ITP Collaboration]

Independent Theatre recently collaborated with Lahore Grammar School 15-C Gulberg III to put forth an amazingly hilarious play, ‘Arsenic & Old Lace’.

Arsenic and Old Lace is a play by the American playwright Joseph Kesselring, written in 1939. The play was directed by Bretaigne Windust, and opened on January 10, 1941.

Of the twelve plays written by Kesselring, Arsenic and Old Lace was the most successful, and, according to the opening night review in The New York Times, the play was “so funny that none of us will ever forget it.”

Azeem Hamid of Independent Theatre Pakistan put his best foot forward and directed the play’s adaptation.

The idea of ITP is to bring theatre back in Pakistan, and they have been successful in running the campaign, with a host of lauded plays in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Islamabad.
