Elan recently launched their much-awaited clutch and handbags range.
The prices soared sky-high, for starters.
However, the most horrible thing we found about the clutches was that they were made from real snake-skin, REAL pythons.
Before going further, we would like to add that snakes are not the only animals that have been suffering for decades for the sake of fashion.
Millions of lizards, alligators, crocodiles and other reptiles are VIOLENTLY KILLED every year, just so that average people like us can feel better holding/wearing their skins on us.
Well, you know what?
Their skin is TORN from their bodies to make us wallets, belts, boots and handbags.
Animal Rights’ Activists, we don’t see you making a difference?
The popularity of these skins have made pythons, alligators and crocodiles luxury items, and appeal to a richer, more global customer, thus the prices for these ELAN clutches is also 40k onwards.
These exotic items, according to theory, sell to only 2 percent of the entire population. They represent the LUXURY MARKET.
Killing animals for the sake of fashion, that doesn’t sound too nice now does it?
The more disturbing fact lies in ELAN being one of the most prestigious, respected and sought-after brands, and they should be setting examples for other brands to follow.
Persuasive captions like ‘SUMPTUOUS python skin’ is being used, to make people WANT to buy these over-priced, animal-slaughter promoting clutches.
Leather is being used the same way. Made from cows, pigs, goats and sheep, even animals such as alligators, ostriches and kangaroos are being slaughtered for their skin.
However, some of these animals are slaughtered for their meat also, especially cows and goats in Muslim countries.
