20 die after pro-Trump rally clashes with police in Nigeria

WARRI, Nigeria – A Nigerian separatist group claims the death toll has risen to 20 after clashes erupted between participants of a rally in favour of U.S. President Donald Trump and police.

Indigenous People of Biafra organized the rally in support of the US president. The group wants Trump to support the creation of an independent Biafran state for the Igbo people.

Member Ugochukwu Chinweuba said on Saturday that lawyers were working to locate and release those arrested by police. He said more than 200 people remained missing.

On the other hand, Rivers state police spokesperson Nnamdi Omoni denied that anyone was killed but said 65 people had been detained.
