DELHI – The Indian Supreme Court on Friday dropped a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on cow slaughter all over India, saying it will not interfere with state laws on the slaughter of cattles, the India Today reported.
“One state may impose ban on slaughter, the other may not… We will not interfere in state laws,” the apex court remarked, adding that a uniform policy on cow slaughter is required.
The Supreme Cold told petitioner Vineet Sahai that it has already ordered measures for stopping the illegal inter-state transportation of cattle.
