KARACHI – A fire that erupted in the Landhi industrial area of the Karachi on Friday afternoon was finally controlled after a tiring 18 hours struggle.
According to fire brigade officials, 16 fire tenders and two water bowsers took part in rescue operation.
Fortunately, there was no labourer inside the textile factory at the time of the incident and no loss of life was reported although the fire reached the third-floor of the factory.
According to Director KMC Masood Alam, the fire was reported at 2:35 PM on Friday. He said that the fire brigade vehicles reached the site late due to traffic.
‘There weren’t any fire rescue passages or equipment inside the building. There were chemical drums inside the factory that started exploding’ he added.
Hundreds of workers work in the factory in two shifts. The factory is tucked on an area of around two acres. Most of the workers had left for Friday prayers when the fire broke out at the factory, police said.
