FIA arrests first woman suspect under new Cyber Crime Act

SIALKOT – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday arrested first woman accused of blackmailing a man on social media from Sialkot under Cyber Crime Act, reported local media.

A complaint lodged with the FIA alleged that a woman named Sadia Mirza had sent threatening, abusive, and lewd messages to London-based Ahsan Rana through popular social networking website Facebook and demanded money.

Hassan Rana, the latter’s brother, filed the complaint and demanded action against the accused person,

Following the complaint, a team of FIA raided her house in Sialkot and arrested her, besides registering a case under clauses 20 (1) and 24 (b) (c) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.

Mirza has been shifted to the women section of the local police station on remand and later she will be shifted to Lahore for further interrogation.
