Retired colonel becomes 4th Pakistani to scale Earth s highest mountain

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Army’s retired colonel Abdul Jabbar has become the fourth Pakistani climber to scale Mount Everest successfully.

Col (retd) Bhatti, hailing from Punjab province, achieved this remarkable feat at 14:30 local time on Sunday. He is the first Pakistani from Punjab to scale Mount Everest.

Abdul Jabbar, earlier, had climbed several of Pakistan’s highest mountains.

The other three Pakistanis Nazir Sabir, Hassan Sadpara and Samina Baig to climb Mount Everest belong to the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The 8,848 metre (29,030 foot) mountain is the world’s highest mountain and is located in Nepal.
