Did this horse called Pakistan Star predict Pakistan s Champions Trophy victory?

LONDON – Although parrots are widely used across South-Asia for accurate predictions of victorious team prior to any sports competition, but a horse named ‘Pakistan Star’ seemed to have foretold the victory of Pakistan in Champions Trophy- and that too a year before the contest.

Confused as to how a horse predicted Pakistan’s story? Let us tell you how.

A German-bred racehorse named ‘Pakistan Star’ stunned the crowd by storming to victory in its debut race at Hong Kong’s Sha Tin Racecourse, last year. The horse was several lengths behind the pack for at least two-thirds of the race, before unleashing a 600-foot dash to cross the line in first place.

But this incredible feat bears an uncanny resemblance to Pakistan cricket team’s ascent in the recently concluded Champions Trophy.

Like ‘Pakistan Star’, Green Shirts were also at the last eighth spot in terms of rankings and no one was expecting it to sail through. However, after losing first crucial match to India, Pakistan fought back and then was crowned champions much to the surprise of cricket fans and analysts across the globe.

It seems that the Pakistani cricket team’s unexpected triumph in Champions Trophy was predicted by ‘Pakistan Star’ that produced one of the performances of the season with a finishing sprint of 21.2 seconds, seven-tenths of a second faster than the next best all day and one of only two horses to finish under 22 seconds.

Mark Richards, the club’s international sale manager, who was riding the horse, explained that Pakistan Star’s workout didn’t give much encouragement to onlookers.

“He’s been a nice horse from the start. He was bred in Germany at Gestüt Wittekindshof, his half-sister was a two-year-old winner in Europe and Listed-placed, so I thought there was a fair chance this one would come to hand fairly early,” Richards said.

A Hong Kong-based businessman Kerm Din owned the horse.

According to the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s website, Din owns horses called Pakistan Baby and retired Pakistan Treasure.

He is also the co-owner of two other retired horses Glory of Pakistan and Pakistan Hero.

The video of the horse’s triumph went viral in much the same manner a victory of playing XI was shared on social media, a week earlier.

The successful trajectory of ‘Pakistan Star’ might be the first case of a horse predicting victory of any time, a year before the high-octane clash.
