LAHORE – Players and officials of the star-studded World XI departed from Lahore on Saturday morning, after the completion of Independence Cup that was clinched by the host country by 2-1.
The players and the team staff who arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport amid tight security flew off to Dubai from where they would be heading to their respective countries.
West Indian bowler Daren Sammy tweeted a picture of the players who were returning home with a lot of memories.

Earlier, the squad was greeted warmly by the airport staff, which captured selfies with the players and lavished praise on them for playing their part in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
World XI captain Faf du Plessis thanked the airport security officials for all of their efforts and expressed his good wishes for the Pakistani people.
“I am optimistic other teams will also come to Pakistan after this tour,” he said, adding that he was “proud to have played a part in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan”.
Du Plessis affirmed that he would be visiting Pakistan again without any hesitation if any opportunity arises.

Pakistan celebrated the return of international cricket with a remarkable victory in the final contest of three T20s at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
Former Pakistani skipper Misbah ul Haq and Shahid Afridi also showed up for the contest, as did several showbiz stars.
