LAHORE – Security agencies recently held a suspected terrorist, who was planning to assassinate Shehbaz Sharif, from the same area where the Punjab chief minister lives.
Police officials confirmed to the media on Monday that during an intelligence-based operation few days ago, the operatives of law enforcement agencies nabbed the terrorist working as a driver at a house in posh Model Town area. The LEAs’ personnel also recovered ammunition, maps and suicide jacket from the terror suspect.
The chief minister just returned in the city after a visit to Turkey.

“A suspect was arrested days lately, in connection with the Arfa Karim Tower blast,” Punjab Law Minsiter Rana Sanaullah confirmed to the media.
At least 26 people, including eight policemen, were killed and 57 others injured in a suicide blast near Arfa Karim Tower, on July 24.
Police said that a suicide bomber riding a motorcyle had tried to target policemen, who were present in the area to handle any possible untoward situation in reaction to the ongoing anti-encroachment operation.
Last month, Pakistan Army’s spokesman confirmed the terrorists involved in Ferozepur Road blast wanted to target CM Shehbaz Sharif.
“The plan was changed at the very last moment,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor told a press briefing in which he also shared the gains of Operation Khyber-IV with media men.
