LAHORE – Authorities say an oil filling vehicle ran into a parked passenger plane of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada on Saturday, causing damage to one of the engines.
PIA spokesman Mashood Tajwar said the vehicle collided with the engine of the plane, PK 798, which was scheduled for Lahore, during the process of refilling due to which the jet received damages.
No passengers or crew were aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident, he said, adding that about 16 hours delay was expected in the flight. The plane has been shifted to a hanger for repairs.
The spokesperson said the authorities have informed the company, provides services to PIA at Toronto airport, regarding the accident, while an explanation has been sought from the firm.
The passengers have been provided accommodation due to delay and now the flight will depart for Lahore at 9 pm today, he added.
