ISLAMABAD – An anti-polio vaccination campaign kicked of today (Monday) in different parts of the country.
The campaign will be run in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan for three days, while in Karachi and Rawalpindi it will continue for six days.
Around 2.3 million children up to age five years will be administered anti-polio drops in 188 union councils of Karachi during the drive.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata, over 6.7 million children will be vaccinated. The polio teams will also perform duties at railway stations and public place to achieve the desired results.
In Balochistan, 2.4 children would be administered polio drops and 811,000 will be vaccinated in Rawalpinid.
Director EPI Gilgit Baltistan Dr. Shakil Ahmed said that over 236,000 will be administered polio vaccine in the region.
Similarly, the government hoped that 1.75 million children would be vaccinated.
