LONDON – The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman is on an official visit to the United Kingdom.
It was reported that the Chief of Air Staff visited the Royal Air Force’s Marham airbase on Wednesday and flew one of the Royal Air Force Tornado fighter jets part of the famous No 9 Squadron.
He was given a detailed briefing on the historical significance of the No 9 Squadron on his arrival at RAF Marham.
Upon his arrival at the base, the air chief was briefed about the operational activities and the glorious history of the prestigious and elite squadron, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) said in a statement.
“The event was significant as the same squadron was declared the twin of the elite No 9 squadron of Pakistan Air Force in a twinning ceremony held at PAF Base, Mushaf earlier this year,” it read.
According to the statement, RAF Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, had attended this landmark event and had also participated in an exercise training mission with No 9 Squadron of the PAF.
Earlier, the air chief called on Hillier at the Ministry of Defence in London where matters of professional and mutual interest came under discussion.
Royal Air Chief appreciated the professional capability of the Pakistan Air Force and its role in eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country. The air chief also visited the historic ‘Number 9’ squadron of the Royal Force.
He was apprised of the operational activities and the great history of the squadron.
The air chief also visited the royal college of defence studies and delivered a lecture on ‘South Asia Security Dynamics: Pivot to World Peace’.
The air chief highlighted successes of Pakistan in the war against terrorism and stressed on consultations for political stability and peace in Afghanistan.
Sohail Aman while the highlighting importance of the CPEC said the great project will commence a new era of development and economic stability not only for Pakistan but for the entire region.
