Indian bus passenger arrested for wearing smelly socks

MUMBAI – Indian police have arrested a man as his smelly socks caused a dispute between him and fellow passengers in a bus.

The fellow passenger lodged a complaint against 27-year-old Prakash Kumar for “causing a public nuisance,” BBC News reported.

The incident occurred when Prakash put off his shoes and socks while traveling on a bus, en route to Delhi.

The passenger irritated from the stench asked Kumar to put his socks in his bag or throw them out. But he refused, sparking a brawl.

On his reluctance, the passengers forced the bus driver to take the bus to a nearby police station in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The passenger lodged a complaint against Kumar, who was later arrested by the police.

Kumar said his socks did not have a foul smell, adding that the passengers just traded heated arguments with him for no reason.

Police say the accused has been granted bail.
