Six killed in roadside explosion in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR – Roadside remote-controlled bomb placed on a motorcycle exploded near a military vehicle in restive North Waziristan area on Tuesday, killing at six persons and injuring eight others.

The bomb was planted on the motorcycle parked along the roadside in Mir Ali Tehsil of North Waziristan Agency.

The blast targeted the vehicle and those killed and injured were civilians, said Kamran Afridi, a top administrator in the North Waziristan tribal region.

At least six persons were killed in the explosion in the tribal region near Pak-Afghan border, he said.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, Afridi said.

The explosion is the first major blast after the culmination of the military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against militants.

Last week, five persons were killed in a similar blast in the South Waziristan Agency.
