Apple’s most-powerful Mac ever goes on sale

CUPERTINO, California – US tech giant, Apple has revealed its new iMac Pro is to go on sale tomorrow (Thursday).

The California-based company unveiled its desktop PC iMac Pro at its annual developer’s conference WWDC in June this year. At the event, the company termed the high-end desktop as its “most-powerful Mac ever made”.

“We’re thrilled to give developers and customers a sneak peek at iMac Pro. This will be our fastest and most powerful Mac ever, which brings workstation-class computing to iMac for the first time,” said John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering at the event. He added, “We re-engineered the whole system and designed an entirely new thermal architecture to pack extraordinary performance into the elegant, quiet iMac enclosure our customers love — iMac Pro is a huge step forward and there’s never been anything like it.”

Apple iMac Pro comes in Space Gray colour and has a starting price tag of $4,999. The new Apple PC is the first to come in 8,10 and 18 core variants.

The Apple iMac Pro comes with a 27-inch 5K Retina display with 5120 x 2880 pixels resolution. The display supports 1 billion colours and 500 nits brightness. It is powered by 8-Core, 10-Core or 18-Core Xeon processors coupled with 8GB Radeon Pro Vega 56 GPU.

The device is configurable to 16GB Radeon Pro Vega GPU and offers 32GB 2666MHz DDR4 ECC memory. The device offers 1TB of solid stage storage on the base mode and the users can configure up to 4TB.

The company has also tweaked the design of the iMac Pro. In order to manage the thermal situation better, the manufacturer has incorporated large vents. The device also comes equipped with 1080p FaceTime HD camera and stereo speakers with four microphones.

The Apple iMac Pro offers four USB Type C ports, four USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt 3 and 10Gbps Ethernet connection. The device also features a dedicated SDXC card slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

The all new iMac Pro offers support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The device also includes the magic mouse and keyboard with numeric keypad. The company will also be giving a black USB-A lightening cable with the retail pack.

Last month, a report surfaced online suggesting that the Apple iMac Pro may feature a new ‘Find my iMac Pro’ theft feature. The feature reportedly sends an alert of the stolen iMac Pro. The alert may include the device’s location based on its GPS tracking tech.
