ISLAMABAD – The Prime Minister’s Youth Program has left an indelible impression on the socio-economic landscape of the country in different sectors ranging from poverty alleviation to entrepreneurship development.
Under Prime Minister’s Youth Business Loan scheme, an amount of 20.52 billion rupees has so far been disbursed amongst 20,499 people. Loan recovery rate has also been remarkable at 91 percent.
The program launched in 2013 has a broad canvas of six schemes, which enabled the youth and poor segments of the population to get good employment opportunities, secure economic empowerment and access higher education and IT tools.
Over 9.5 billion rupees have been disbursed under the Prime Minisinterest-freet free loan scheme, which included 64 percent female and 60,000 beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
One hundred thousand youth have so far benefited from Prime Minister’s Youth Skill development program while over 95,000 youth were provided with the internship in different departments under Prime Minister’s youth training program.
Over the last three years, 300,000 laptops were provided to the students under the laptop scheme while under the fee reimbursement scheme, an amount of Rs6.8 billion rupees has so far been disbursed.
