LAHORE – Nighat Dad, a Pakistani activist and lawyer recently raised a point that Qandeel Baloch’s (late) parents were struggling to meet ends financially. This statement comes after the drama ‘Baaghi’ released on Qandeel’s life was on aired.
Nighat said in her post that the creators of the drama has misled Qandeel’s parents and have exploited the profit made from the drama: “Even well-intentioned efforts to highlight Qandeel’s cause, such as the Urdu One drama serial Baaghi, have exploited and misled her parents. (Some of us have reached out to the producer of Baaghi and she bluntly said that they are legally covered).”
“A few of us in the past have collected money to support their medical bills, rent and living expenses. As the trial moves forward, the parents are still in need of support. I want to appeal to those who have the means to contribute financially, in any way they can, to supporting her parents. Please comment under the post and I will reach out to you personally<" she said further. https://www.facebook.com/nighat.daad/posts/10155950905492095 Nighat has further responded to the questions of people under the post, further strengthening her stance:
And people have agreed with her:
Osman Khalid Butt responded to the post and said that he would be talking to the producers and help in any way that he can:
Saba Qamar responded that permission was taken from Qandeel’s parents and that they were not being misled:
