NEW DELHI – The recently concluded visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has set the tongues wagging owing to multiple controversies including the latest one, revolving around the display of doctored Indian map.
According to political commentator Terry Glavin, the map shown at the Canadian embassy during the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to India had deleted the entire Jammu and Kashmir region from it.
In his column published in the Ottawa Citizen, Glavin expressed surprise at the move, apparently by the high commission officials that surprised the Indian diplomats as well.

“Mercifully overlooked last week: a map of India displayed at last Thursday night’s High Commission party in New Delhi omitted the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir – heavily militarised Muslim-majority Indian state that Pakistan claims as its own territory,” the journalist wrote in his piece.
“Imagine the Indian High Commission in Ottawa throwing a party and showing off a huge map of Canada with Quebec missing, and you get the picture.” wrote the journalist while drawing an eerie juxtaposition.
Trudeau, in his first official tour to ‘World’s largest democracy’ ignited multiple controversies including his tour to Mahatma Gandhi’s ashram where he wore a traditional dress.

The 46-year-old Canadian premier also cancelled one of his dinners with a Sikh separatist ‘Jaspal Atwal’ and after landing back in Canada endorsed allegations that factions within the Indian government had actively sought to undermine his visit to the country.
The Indian officials hit back at the allegations of deliberately inviting the Sikh separatists to the dinner by some rogue political elements terming them as ‘baseless’ and ‘unacceptable’.
