ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday wrote a letter to secretary establishment aimed at changing all four provincial chief secretaries and inspector generals (IGs) with immediate effect.
As per details acquired, ECP has given deadline till tomorrow (Wednesday) to the caretaker federal government in this regard.
ECP—in its press release—termed transfers indispensable for ensuring transparent and biased elections.
On the other hand, the electoral body has summoned a high-level meeting for reviewing security arrangements for the much-anticipated general polls 2018 on Thursday (June-14). The huddle will begin at 10:00 am, whereas Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza will preside over the session. Earlier, the meeting was to be held on Wednesday.
Secretaries for defence and interior will also attend the session. ECP has also summoned Director General Military Operation (DGMO), all chief secretaries and IGs to finalize security arrangements for avoiding any untoward situation.
General polls 2018 will be held on July 25.
