Govt determined to boost tourism in Pakistan: MD PTDC

LAHORE  – Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) organized a function as part of celebrations of World Tourism Day here at Alhamra Arts Centre on Thursday.

A large number of students from various city schools, colleges and universities attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Corporation (PTDC)’s Managing Director Shakeel Anjum said the new government had a comprehensive policy for boosting tourism across the country especially in Punjab and for this PTDC would introduce new packages to attract tourists from both local and international countries.

This year, World Tourism Day was celebrated under the theme of ‘Tourism & Digital Transformation’ set by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).

The MD said Pakistan could earn hefty revenue and promote tourism by opting for digital technology and transformation. He hinted at digitalization of all tourism sites for promoting the tourism sector and providing maximum facilities to tourists. “TDCP will also upgrade its website and provide separate links of the different tourism destinations on its web page,” he told the gathering.

He said, holding desert jeep rally was a unique experience on part of the Tourism Development Corporation Punjab saying Pakistan was acknowledged internationally owing to this adventurous move.

He said, to mark the World Tourism Day, special PTDC buses were plying on city roads where hundreds of tourists were amused with sight-seeing.
