How much Apple’s huge new 1,099 iPhone actually costs? The price will leave you in shock

OTTAWA – US tech giant Apple recently launched its 2018 iPhone lineup – iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR – for a shocking price tag.

The California-based company, which is famous for its price tag and status symbol rather than innovation, has set a hefty price of $1,099 for the basic version of this year’s flagship iPhone XS Max, $1,249 for 256 GB, and the staggering $1,449 for the 512 GB variant.

But, according to a tech analysis firm, TechInsights, the components of iPhone XS Max cost Apple not more than $453 – which is nearly $50 more than the last year’s iPhone X.

In its cost analysis, the Ontario-based firm found that the OLED panel is the most expensive component which costs $90.50 as compared to $77.27 for last year’s iPhone X, which featured a smaller 5.8-inch screen.

It means the cost of the screen increased just 5%, accounting to inflation, but not everyone will buy this argument.

After OLED, the second most expensive component is the processor/modem that costs $72.

TechInsights explained the amount of $453 is the pricing of raw components and did not take into account other manufacturing expenses like R&D, software, logistics, and that marketing which makes many people shell over $1,000 for a smartphone.

Few of the numbers in the graph were made with “some assumptions” since the whole data is yet unavailable.
