ISLAMABAD – The accountability court judge, Arshad Malick clarified his position regarding an earlier meeting with the Director-General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, remarking that for the media, it might be a huge issue, however, it was not for us.
The judge was pressed by the counsel for Nawaz Sharif, Khawaja Haris as the hearing into the Al-Azizia reference began on Friday, however, the judge observed that he had summoned DG NAB Irfan Mangi the day before yesterday, however, Mangi left after waiting for some time which is why the meeting took place yesterday.
The judge remarked that he had summoned Irfan Mangi in an official capacity and did not speak about the cases lodged against the Sharif family.

‘The only mention of the case in our conversation was that I could not meet him the day before yesterday owing to an engagement,’ he observed.
The NAB court judge observed that there were some issues with remand of NAB suspects and he told Mangi to solve them otherwise he would be in trouble.
The remarks came after Khawaja Haris cited media reports about the meeting and argued that such situations should have been refrained from.
On Thursday, Mangi arrived at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, where he met with accountability court judges Mohammad Bashir and Arshad Malik, raising concerns about the accountability process.
According to well-placed sources, the meeting took place in the chamber of Justice Malik after the time for judicial proceedings had ended; reportedly, the meeting lasted for one-and-a-half hour.
