LAHORE (Staff Report) – Pakistani singer Fariha Pervez on Saturday filed for divorce from her husband Nouman Javed in a family court.
“I don’t know how she is filing for a khullah (divorce) when we didn’t even register our nikkah in the first place,” Nouman told the media on Saturday.
Nouman, who is also a singer, married Fariha in a private ceremony earlier this year. Subsequent months saw a failed suicide attempt by Nouman, and the two in conflict over a property dispute.

Nouman said he has been battling depression for a while now. “I was in depression for quite some time before finally attempting suicide. I was facing issues in life but I wish to make it clear that my marriage has not ended yet,” he said, referring to hearsay of his falling out with wife, singer Fariha Pervez.
“Secondly, Fariha was not the only reason behind my depression; there were a number of other things involved,” he added.
Fariha Pervez is leading Pakistani singer who has so far released six albums of new songs and released renditions of countless classical songs of great singers like Noor Jehan and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Her last album was launched in 2010 after a hiatus of five years.
She also sang several songs including “Rabb Janay Ya Dill Janay” along with Nouman Javed, who also gave music to Bollywood film Yamla Pagla Dewana.
