ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Supreme Court has given the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Yasmin Abbasey a last chance to appoint another legal counsel in the suo moto case against her.

The case was heard by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, where Abbasey appeared in person. The proceedings were adjourned till the next hearing on July 13.

Justice Jamali had taken a suo motu notice of the matter when Yasmin Abbasey had earlier issued an arrest warrant for Lahore High Court’s Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.

The warrant was issued just one day after she had tendered an unconditional apology to the judge for her ‘contemptuous’ conduct.

During the initial hearing, the chief justice questioned Yasmin Abbasey whether she had the the authority to issue a notice to the sitting chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Earlier, the respondent Justice (r) Yasmin Abbasey had named Advocate Irfan Qadir as her legal counsel, whose licence was later annulled by the apex court. She then filed for a review petition to engage another counsel in the case.
